

-WINTER: January to March. (primarily indoor track)
-OUTDOOR: April to July or early August, if applicable (primarily outdoor track)
-FALL: September – November (primarily cross-country)
-YEARLY - Road racing happens all year long (for Masters)
-REST PERIODS (No official club workouts) – August & December

-2 workouts per week (1 to 2 workout per week in winter season) with some personal absence exceptions.
-Participation in the Athletics Ontario Championship. This involves committing fully to club-organized team-building travel arrangements (separate fees involved to cover hotel/bus/meal costs, as applicable).

All members of the Newmarket Huskies Track Club are to abide by our club's Code of Conduct.

Workouts will always take place RAIN or SHINE. Only EXCEPTION - when lightning is occurring or conditions are very icy. “There is no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing”.

COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY: generally train full-time with school teams during the fall/winter season, plus Ontario/Canadian XC Championships. For the summer, they usually compete for the club at Ontario/Canadian Track Championships.
HIGH SCHOOL/ELEMENTARY: All COMMITTED school age members will have the additional EXPECTATION to participate in their SCHOOL workouts. Club Coaches try to coordinate with School coaches to maintain a win/win situation for the individual.

The earliest age group generally considered in 2026 will be those born in 2015.
All members initially trying out (after using the "CONTACT US" area to first communicate with the club) will be required to register first with the club as a $50 "Non-Competitive Athlete" (fill in the Online Huskies Registration Form (Part 1) before the first practice). Any subsequent registration after the tryout period will have the initial $50 applied toward it.
o ATTENDANCE at a few initial WORKOUTS,
o TALENT ASSESSMENT BY AT LEAST TWO COACHES taking into consideration the Ontario Step Up To Excellence Program ENTRY LEVEL TIME STANDARDS as well as how their ability level compares with their peer group within the club,
o INTERVIEW with a Coach and parent(s), as applicable,
o YOUR COMMITMENT and PASSION for running,
o KEEN DESIRE to COMPETE,
o ATOM (MTA) (2014 to 2015), SENIOR MINOR (MTA) (2012 to 2013), U14 (AO) (2013 to 2015)- No standard
o U16 (2011 to 2013), U18 (2009 to 2010) - Standard of 10 seconds higher (new members) or 5 seconds higher (returning members) than the 1500m Level 1 event for the respective age/gender as noted under the Athletics Ontario Step Up To Excellence Program (to be achieved at a club time trial) OR achievement of any Level 1 or higher standard in a distance event in 2025.
o U20 (2007 & 2008), SENIORS & MASTERS (2006+) - Coach's decision
- Elementary School qualifying Local Area Meets & Regional School Association Championship.
- High School qualifying Regional & OFSAA HS Championship.
- University qualifying Regional & National Championships in both Canada or USA.
- Athletics Ontario Club Championships (all members eligible).
- Ontario MASTERS Championships (all members eligible).
- Ontario Minor Association Championships (all members eligible).
- Selected Road Races (all members eligible)
- Canadian Club Championships (qualify by meet standards or club selection criteria)
- International Events / Championships (qualify to represent Canada by either time standards or National Championship placing)
We generally hold club workouts on Saturday Mornings as well as many Wednesday Evenings, along with group runs on Monday Evenings.
